Malawi School Certificate of Education (MSCE) examinations are starting this morning with practical papers and all is set for the candidates with different forms of disabilities in all the examination centres.
Public Relations Officer (PRO) for Malawi National Examinations Board (MANEB), Mayamiko Chiwaya told Malawi News Agency (Mana) that all district education managers communicated to MANEB about the centres that are in need of necessary preparations for the candidates with different forms of disabilities and they are already prepared.
“We are well prepared. We have enough Braille for the visual impaired candidates while those candidates that are not able to write will be provided with oral examinations and specialist invigilators have been already allocated in such examination centres,” she said.
The PRO added that all candidates that have any kind of disability would be assisted by the specialist invigilators in all examination centres.
Chiwaya wished candidates sitting for the examinations all the best, encouraging them to continue preparing for them and ignore fake examination papers circulating on social media.
A Candidate for MSCE examination, Kumbukani Masiyo with hearing impairment at Bvumbwe Private Secondary School expressed gratitude to MANEB for providing all necessities like specialist invigilators in all centres to help candidates with special needs.
“If all centres are provided with specialist invigilators and other necessities for the candidates with disabilities, I believe that we will do better,” Masiyo stated.-( By Innocent Namukhonde, MANA)
